Ruka volunteer week
Every year the world cup opening for mogul skiing and aerials is held at Ruka, Finland. Ski Sport Finland has given the opportunity for Sporticus to raise some money by volunteering during this event. We have had a successful cooperation with Ski Sport Finland for over 10 years and still going strong!
The volunteer week is at the end of November or the beginning of December depending on the year. Volunteer week lasts for one week and the competition takes place during the weekend.
Tasks
There are multiple tasks for the volunteers in and outside the slopes. The volunteers work in three teams: area construction, slope and office teams.

The benefits of the volunteer week
Accommodation, meals and lift tickets will be provided by Ski Sport Finland. You can also have rental skiing gear (skiis, boots, sticks and helmets) for free if you don't have your own. We'll be staying in group housing and the key element of this week is group spirit!
Sporticus will organize a bus ride from Jyväskylä to Ruka and back. Basically the event week doesn't cost anything to the volunteer workers however in the past there have been some additional costs from the bus ride.
Who can apply?
We'll gather a group of about 30 volunteer workers, all members of Sporticus. There will be 2/3 of volunteer workers from previous years and 1/3 newcomers. This principle is to ensure an efficient group of workers and also continuity through the years.
The application period is usually during September and October. The picks for 2024 have already been made.
